Mother's day is illustriously celebrated around the world. We can see social media being blasted with posts about moms, and kids rewarding them with flowers, chocolates, cakes, presents, meals, a day of rest, and more. But you don't see the same level of enthusiasm when it comes to father's day; there's barely a post shared about it. Maybe it's because we automatically assume dads wouldn't appreciate the sentiment as much as moms do. But I wonder if they feel left out. If you're a dad yourself, do comment your thoughts about it in the comments below!
When Is Fathers Day?
Father's day is said to be celebrated on the third Sunday of June. No, not the 3rd of June. It's the third Sunday that comes around. And because of this, the date changes every year. Am I alone in feeling that this is kind of nonsensical? It would have been more memorable if it was a fixed date like the 25th of December for Christmas. Honestly, up until this morning I had no idea that the date changes!
Anyway, father's day 2021 is celebrated on the 20th of June.
Heartwarming But Manly Gift Ideas For Father's Day 2021
Now that you know the answer to 'when is fathers day?', it's time for you to prepare for it. Let's crack that tough armor they hone and melt their hearts! Figuratively speaking, of course. Listed below are some great gift ideas for your dad this year.
1. Bake a cake
It's no secret that men love to eat. In fact, I've heard that their tummies are directly connected to their hearts (I'm just kidding, and you know it...hopefully). So bake a tiny lunch box cake just for your dad since lunch box cakes are all the rage these days. However, if you suck at baking, it would be better to purchase one and have it delivered instead. No offense, but baking disasters are the worst!
2. Cookies
Cookies are easier to bake than cakes and the chances of you going wrong is very less because even if the taste isn't exactly what you expected it to be, you could pass it off as a different flavor. This is what I've been doing with my experimental cookies, and I've got no complains so far!
If you want to get a batch of simple, buttery cookies done in no time at all using ingredients you have at hand, check out my post on how to make 3 Ingredient Butter Cookies
3. Key chain
Father's usually carry a bunch of keys around, be it for the car, the garage, the shed, the safe, and what not. So, isn't a key chain the perfect little gift? You can either purchase one from an online store or make one using resin yourself!

4. Wallet
Let's be real; dads carry the most worn out and filthy looking wallets. They'll continue using the same until it literally falls apart or someone forces a new wallet on them. I'm not sure if they care for the state of their wallets or not, but it would be a very practical gift to give. And dads are the epitome of being practical, don't you think?
Here's a cool men's wallet you can purchase on Amazon:
5. Wrist watch
Wrist watches are the first thing that come to ones mind when thinking of a gift for the male species (though for some reason it took a while to show up in mine).
Check out this Timex men's watch:
6. Shoes
I'm sorry but I have to admit that I don't really understand the extreme love for shoes people have. But if your dad's a shoe-lover, then go ahead and make his day with that expensive pair of shoes he's been wanting to get since forever.
7. Tie
A tie is another item included in the list of symbolic gifts for men. It's a great present for suit-wearing fathers but toss it if your dad doesn't like wearing them. Moreover, if your father's been wearing a tie that looks ridiculous but you haven't the heart to say so, this gift would give you the opportunity to stow the offensive looking thing away and pretend it's gone forever without him fussing over its loss. That was pretty detailed, but I swear I've not done this to my dad. In real life, I'm not even half the scheming witch I seem to portray myself as in this blog!
Necktie, pocket square, handkerchief, and tie clip all in one set. Now that's a perfect gift! Follow the link below to purchase it:
8. Tool kit
Men love their mechanics and carpentry, even though that can be a real pain in the rear for us kids especially when they ask us to hold the torch for them. Oh, the horror! Anyways, I myself know a couple of dads who would go crazy over a took kit. And as they are available in different size ranges and prices, you can pick one that fits your budget.
Don't know anything about tools? No worries! You can simply get the Cartman general household hand tool kit as it carries all the basic tools:
9. Family photo frame
Placing a family photo on the office desk is customary. It gives parents something to look at and forget their burdens for at least a bit. Make a creative frame by your own hands, put your favorite family photo in it, and present it to your father on Father's Day. Your dad would adore it and be reminded of your love every time he takes a glance at it.
10. Memory box
A memory box is something that will be cherished. Whenever someone feels down or nostalgic, opening up a box of memories and finding things that remind them of the special moments in their life will bring them joy and a sense of fulfillment. I think everyone should have one of them because once in a while we need to be reminded of the experiences we've gone through, the people and things we've gained in life, and what we're working towards.
11. Mug
Another practical gift that your dad wouldn't feel too outraged to receive is a mug. I don't know if all dads are this way or if it's just mine, but my dad refuses to accept pricey gifts or one's that have cheaper versions. He goes, "why did you get these Nike flip flops when Bata slippers work just as fine for a much lower price?!" It's especially so when it comes to clothes, which is why Aurudu (Sinhala-Tamil new year) shopping is a nightmare in our household. And that reminds me I forgot to mention another typically men's gift; Shirts.
BTW, I found this super cute 'Yoda best dad ever' mug on Amazon:
12. Shirts
Get your dad a shirt. I'll leave it at that because I'm pretty sure it doesn't need much of an elaboration. Well, neither did the rest, but I had to write something, no?
13. Personalized gift
These are certain things that every person loves above all else. It may be writing, carpentry, mechanics, gardening, cooking, etc. So figure out what that one thing is for your dad and gift him something related to that. It would be the best and most appreciated gift of all.
14. Dream car
Just throwing that in there in case my reader is crazy rich. Plus, I had to act superstitious and avoid stopping at the number 13.
We've come to the end of this post! Hope I've managed to inspire you with the father's day gift ideas listed above. If so, let us not neglect our dads and shower them with the same amount of love and affection as we do our moms. Father's day 2021, here we come!
