Crafting is one of the best hobbies anyone can have. The feeling of making something for someone you love by your own hands is just amazing. So if you're planning on trying it out yourself, I'm here to help you figure out what you need to get started with pretty much any DIY project. You can also follow the affiliate links I have listed below to purchase these products through Amazon.
1. Colored Paper
This is the most frequently used craft supply. You can even call it the base.
2. Newspaper
Newspapers are a great substitute for patterned papers. You can use them for scrapbooks, backdrops, or even gift-wrapping.
3. Scissors or box cutters
Well, duh.
4. Glue
Most commonly there's the clear glue and the thick white Chemifix. I personally prefer Chemifix since it doesn't blot papers as much as the clear one does and sticks better. It's also more satisfying to peel off Chemifix skins!
5. Pencils
I love starting anything off with pencils rather than getting into it with a pen. Its easier to save your work if you make mistakes with pencils. I'm talking about 'erasing', if you hadn't already noticed.
6. Color pencils, crayons or felt pens
7. Ruler
Rulers are not just for drawing straight lines and measuring, you can also use it to crease paper/cardboard to get a neater fold.
8. Quilling tool
I LOVE paper quilling. In fact, my high-school senior year project was based on paper quilled cards. I will be showcasing some of that handy work on one of my future posts. So watch out for that!
9. Washi tape
Washi tape is super cute! In my first stages of crafting I couldn't get my hands on Washi tape but managed to use a substitute for it. I'll let you in on that tip as well!
10. Stickers
Who doesn't like stickers? Just like Washi tape, you can make your own stickers at home! I'll show you how on my next post.
11. Twine
Twine is a really cheap craft supply. In Sri Lanka, you can even find it used in local grocery stores to tie up your parcels.
12. Ribbons
Ribbons can make your craft look much more elegant and pretty.
13. Glitter
Glitter can be really messy and I try to avoid using it as much as possible. Glitter sheets are a good replacement for loose glitter dust.
14. Sequins, beads and buttons
These are the best stuff to use to add a little pop and glamour.
15. Bristol board
Bristol board sheets are essential if you're making greeting cards, explosion boxes, or any other solid crafts. I personally like using embossed cards rather than the basic ones since they can take away the plainness of even the most plain greeting cards.
Great post, Hope to see some more soon :)
I'm now inspired to create a craft following this professional guide!
